Hi! I'm Jasmine.
I am a senior at UW-Madison majoring in Graphic Design with a strong focus on User Experience & Accessiblity Design.
Why UX Design?
One defining characteristic that everyone remembers about me is that I love to create. I've always been passionate about the arts and creating projects that bring joy to myself and others. However, since I was a child, I knew I wanted to do more than just create paintings on a wall. I wanted purpose. I wanted to create something that could actually help people and make a real difference.
Growing up as a first-generation kid, it was difficult to figure out how to be successful and use my skills effectively. I never had a role model or guide to steer me in the "right" direction, so I tried my best at everything. Even though I found myself excelling in certain subjects with enough effort, I always gravitated towards art. After a lot of internal debate, I took a deep dive into how I could use my creative skills, and that’s when I discovered UX/UI design.
I hate to say this because it sounds cliché, but after spending hours scratching the surface of what UX design is, a wave of excitement washed over me. I knew I had to pursue this path. Since then, I’ve been applying the knowledge I gained from UW-Madison, my Google UX certificate, internships, and online resources to practice and hone my skills in UX/UI design.
I’m ecstatic to see what the future holds for UX design and eager to find my place in its evolution.
